DO YOU HATE CORRECTION?

(LEADERSHIP: DISCIPLESHIP SERIES)
Correction is defined by making a change that rectifies an error or an inaccuracy!
As believers – we are called by Jesus, to enter into relationships, to help people trust and follow Him (Matt. 28:18–20), that includes the whole discipleship process from conversion, maturing and multiplication.
Becoming a disciple describes inward changes which leads a person to following Jesus more closely; while just being a convert only lead to actions that may not go deeper than outward appearance. You have to be discipled! Jesus is focused on disciples, not just converts!
So with this being said, let’s talk about the subject of being considered “STUPID,” in relation to your call into discipleship—and what the written Word of God has to say on the subject.
This type of person either thinks they know it all, or views correction as some type of dishonor or disrespect. This can affect any one of us—at times, we can believe that we know so much about something, intellectually or religiously, that there is nothing anyone can tell us about it. Not even Jesus, who is the Word!
This is a form of PRIDE, that does not make us look smarter, but makes us look foolish, and if you behave in this manner, the Bible calls you STUPID. This is a humbling pill to swallow.
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge-- but he who hates correction (reproof) is STUPID or brutish; which normally describes dumb animals that lack intellectual sense. It also describes the moral fool who is not willing to learn from correction. He is like a dumb animal.
I hope this insight begins to shape your perspective on the gravity and intensity of this word, as you think about your own life, what type of person are you right now, and what type of person you want to be…
So before you ignorantly file a claim for damages, check out what the word says about it and pay close attention when the Bible chooses to define someone in this manner.
“Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge but whoever hates correction is Stupid” –Proverbs 12:1
The disciplined person recognizes how much they don’t know instead of celebrating how much they do!
I know correction is not always an easy pill to swallow, but it’s better to struggle with swallowing the pill, (be corrected) than to be declared STUPID by God or anyone else! We are told to abstain from the very “appearance” of what God considered evil; by our showing a lack of good sensible judgment and intelligence—(foolish and stupidity are the appearances!)
Lay aside the very appearance of any actions, that could invalidate how Jesus Christ is seen by the world, by our practicing (or even walking so close to the line)—behaviors that are so brutish (likeness to an animal with low intelligence, base appetites, with carnal and uncivilized instincts that is unbecoming of Kingdom Ambassadors!
Stupid would be one of them! Lay it aside and move on to maturity! Search the scriptures….
