Fame & Money

In a secular culture that increasingly values the "things of today" over a spiritual perspective, priorities matter. It's essential to focus in on what really counts.

Wisdom — and reliance upon God — are the most important of priorities. While the world tells us that the quest for money, fame, power and "things" is the most essential goal in life, the word of God speaks quite differently.

"Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.”

It's counter-cultural not to obsessively value money and materialism. You don't have to look hard to find scores of people — celebrities, wealthy businessmen and others — who have plenty of money and lots of notoriety, yet lack wisdom and happiness.

The reality is: amassing wealth and fame while ignoring God's wisdom is anything but prudent.

It takes a certain level of strength to say "no" to something that could be lucrative, simply because we know it isn't wise, or isn't something God wants for us. It also takes a lot of focus and relational interaction with God to stay on the right spiritual track.

Counsel, sound judgment, insight, power  are all in wisdom’s path, in a world that lacks it.
