It Takes Trust

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not lean unto your own understanding. In all your ways admit the existence and truth of who He is (acknowledge Him), and He will direct your steps. Don’t forget His divine rules which must be obeyed, and pay attention to His authoritative orders (commands), for length of days, long life, and peace, they will add to you.

The basis of any relationship must be trust. Trusting God with our successes isn’t much of a challenge. The real test of trust is sharing your secrets—our inner failures and fears.

Jesus once told the woman at the well, “true worshippers will worship the father in spirit and truth; for the father is seeking such people (real people, flawed people) to worship Him. God is spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth!

You have nothing to fear, for your honesty with the father won’t reveal anything that He does not already know. His intellect is so keen that He doesn’t have to wait for us to make a mistake. He knows about our failures before we fail. His knowledge is all-inclusive, and He knows our thoughts even as we subconsciously gather them in our own mind.

Once we realize this, all our attempts at silence and secrecy will seem childish and ridiculous. He knows perfectly and completely what’s in each of us. When we pray and commune with God, we must have the confidence and assurance that neither requires nor allows concealing and misrepresenting the truth. Although our father hates sin, He loves us!

There is a balance in the awareness of His holiness, and His love which esteems and redeems us all.

He is far too loving for us to be frightened by the emotional dysfunction that comes from approaching a father that we can’t seem to please.

Father God does not change—neither does His compassion

One thing most of us search for at every level of our own relationships, is to be understood. When we are properly understood, we don’t always have to express and explain…everything!

Thank you Lord for not asking us to explain what we can barely express!

I grow weary, as do many of you, of people who demand that we constantly explain ourselves. We’d rather be around those who are able to read the meaning of a touch, a brief hug, a sigh released in the stillness of the moment.

REAL communication cannot be taught—it must be understood. Words are unnecessary all the time when there is true understanding. It is with this kind of understanding that Jesus clearly perceives our every need.
