Super Heroes!

SUPERS!! SUPERHEROES! !!
A super-heroine is a character that possesses superpowers, abilities beyond those of ordinary people, and fits the role of the hero, typically using their powers to help the world become a better place, or are those who dedicate themselves to protecting the public and fighting misdeeds.

Remember the Incredibles?? They were a family of superheroes, who were forced to assume mundane lives as Bob and Helen Parr after all super-powered activities have been banned by the government?

All the Supers were forced into hiding when the public began to sue them for damages caused by crime-fighting. The Supers were granted amnesty from responsibilities for past actions while, in return, they had to promise to never again resume any form of hero-work. These superheroes were not a secret to the world; their identities are known to the US Government and they became model citizens in a conforming world.

Mr. Incredible is a superhero; or he used to be, until the surge of lawsuits against all superheroes, submitted by the people they've saved, forced the government to hide them in witness protection programs so they could lead normal, anonymous lives. While Mr. Incredible loves his wife and kids, he longs to return to a life of adventure.

heroes know no limits

Consider the comic Superman, the man of steel—a fictional character and a superhero in the DC series of films. He is a refugee from the planet Krypton who lands on earth, developing superhuman abilities and becoming one of Earth's greatest protectors.

I believe that, just as Mr. Incredible had been beaten down by the evils of a government system, and forced to reduce who he was and to conform to a false identity; Superman also had his weakness—Kryptonite! The church-the collection of individuals who claim to follow Christ (the present day Supers)—does as well!

Kryptonite was a substance from Superman’s home planet, and as Superman, drew near to it, he would lose all his superpowers and become weak—even weaker than a normal man.

Kryptonite, has more or less the same meaning as an 'Achilles heel' (a weak spot). In spite of having overall strength, Kryptonite can lead to one’s downfall, and can be used to hurt someone who is strong!

If you just look a glance in our church today, you would probably find our Kryptonite!

These are the works of the flesh (our Kryptonite)—which now manifest, in our community—in such a great way.

Check the Kryptonite list:

  • Adultery & divorce

  • fornication

  • pornography

  • uncleanness

  • lasciviousness

  • idolatry

  • witchcraft

  • hatred

  • variance (disagreement & conflict)

  • emulations (jealousy)

  • wrath

  • strife

  • seditions

  • heresies

  • envying

  • murders

  • drunkenness

  • reveling and;

  • anything else like these…

of the which I (Jesus), tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things SHALL NOT—inherit the Kingdom. (Galatians 5:19-21)

There is a sharp disconnect between what happened in the first century church, than what is happening in the church today. It would be easy to blame this disconnect on fragmented institutions, ungodly leaders, the culture, and so on, but let’s use this opportunity to examine our own lives.

The truth is, the first-century Christians were the supers of their day, and the world stood in awe of them.
Here are just a few of their exploits found in Scripture:

  • No one in their communities lacked anything—no one had physical needs of any kind, and there was no one on government assistance (Acts 4:33–35). Entire cities came to Jesus in a moment, and the gospel swept through entire regions in a matter of years (Acts 9:32–35, 19:10).

  • God’s power operated through them so much they had to convince people they weren’t gods (Acts 10:25–26, 14:8–18)—think about that for a few seconds. They had worship times so powerful they shook the ground (Acts 4:31), and as a result of those things, they had a reputation of being people who had turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6).

What should really challenge us, is that God makes it clear in His Word that the Christians of the last days will do even more than these early believers. There is no sense in asking the question as to why we are not seeing the greater works God promised! We know why!!

It begins with each of us individually...in our own life and surroundings!

As we change…we change our world!

PRAYER: Lord be merciful to us—we have sinned. Forgive us and cleanse us now…then use us for your glory!!
Whatever you plan to do in this post pandemic season—we ask that you do it with us, as your ambassador!
You have said you have already given us ‘hope’…and a future;
a future where we walk circumspectly, and are careful to consider all circumstances and possible consequences.
We will walk with prudence and diplomatically
before you—as your predestined kings and priest.
Thank you Lord-we receive…and choose to
level up!” Amen!
